Mitnick, 37, was released from prison earlier this year. Under the terms of his probation, he was barred from any contact with computers and from speaking publicly about technology-related topics. He successfully challenged the conditions of his release and won federal approval to pursue some computer-related work, including the Giga conference.
"Security is a dynamic process," Mitnick told attendees. "The key is not only detection but reaction in time for damage control."
