Concerns
Security is a primary focus of Gentoo Linux and ensuring the confidentiality and security of our users' machines is of utmost importance to us. Any security concerns should be addressed to security@gentoo.org or alternatively, you may file a bug at https://bugs.gentoo.org.
Background
A systems programming language that runs blazingly fast, prevents segfaults, and guarantees thread safety.
Affected Packages
------------------------------------------------------------------- Package / Vulnerable / Unaffected ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 dev-lang/rust < 1.29.1 >= 1.29.1 2 dev-lang/rust-bin < 1.29.1 >= 1.29.1 ------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 affected packages
Impact
=====
A remote attacker able to control the value passed to Rust's
str::repeat function could possibly cause a Denial of Service
condition.
In addition, a local attacker could trick another user into executing
arbitrary code when using rustdoc.
Workaround
There is no known workaround at this time.
