RedHat: httpd Multiple vulnerabilities
Summary
Summary
The Apache HTTP Web Server is a secure, efficient, and extensible Webserver that provides HTTP services.A memory leak in Apache 2.0 through 2.0.44 allows remote attackers to causea significant denial of service (DoS) by sending requests containing lotsof linefeed characters.Apache 2.0 does not filter terminal escape sequences from its access logs, which could make it easier for attackers to insert those sequences intoterminal emulators containing vulnerabilities related to escape sequences.Apache does not filter terminal escape sequences from its error logs, whichcould make it easier for attackers to insert those sequences into terminalemulators containing vulnerabilities related to escape sequences. All users of the Apache HTTP Web Server are advised to upgrade to theapplicable errata packages containing back-ported fixes applied to Apacheversion 2.0.40.After the errata packages are installed, restart the Web service by runningthe following command:/sbin/service httpd restart
Solution
Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Fvh [filenames]
where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those
RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are
not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you
can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains
the desired RPMs.
Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many
people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network,
launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command:
up2date
This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate
RPMs being upgraded on your system.
