1) Solved Security Vulnerabilities
To avoid flooding mailing lists with SUSE Security Announcements for minor
issues, SUSE Security releases weekly summary reports for the low profile
vulnerability fixes. The SUSE Security Summary Reports do not list or
download URLs like the SUSE Security Announcements that are released for
more severe vulnerabilities.
Fixed packages for the following incidents are already available on our FTP
server and via the YaST Online Update.
- lighttpd
This update fixes a denial of service vulnerability in lighttpd
that can be triggered using slow requests.
(CVE-2010-0295: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0)
Affected Products: openSUSE 11.0-11.2, SLE10, SLE11
- net-snmp/libsnmp15/perl-SNMP
This update of net-snmp fixes the following bugs:
- truncated walk of hrSWRunPath
- crash when 64-bit counters wrap
- unknown host names in snmp traps
- sensitive host information disclosure
(CVE-2008-6123: CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0)
Affected Products: openSUSE 11.2
- fuse
A race condition in fusermount allowed users to umount any
filesystem (CVE-2009-3297: CVSS v2 Base Score: 1.7).
Affected Products: SLE11
- xpdf
This update of xpdf fixes an integer overflow/signed-issue that may
lead to code execution.
(CVE-2009-4035: CVSS v2 Base Score: 6.8)
Affected Products: SLES9

2) Pending Vulnerabilities, Solutions, and Work-Arounds
- samba
At the weekend a vulnerability (directory traversal) in the samba server
code was found that allows users (even guest) with write-access to a
share to use symbolic links to access files outside of the share.
The files can be read and modified with the privileges of the user
('nobody' for guest) only.
To disable the affected code path edit the [global] section in smb.conf
and add "wide links = no"

3) Authenticity Verification and Additional Information
- Announcement authenticity verification:
SUSE security announcements are published via mailing lists and on Web
sites. The authenticity and integrity of a SUSE security announcement is
guaranteed by a cryptographic signature in each announcement. All SUSE
security announcements are published with a valid signature.
To verify the signature of the announcement, save it as text into a file
and run the command
gpg --verify
